Artist Statement:
The Fauna floor lamp is the manifestation of time spent looking at the experiential similarities of electronic dance music and nature. Exploring the parallels of collective consciousness that have been referenced throughout rave culture’s history and nature to form a light design mimicking life force. Fauna was designed and built whilst on residence at Home of the Arts in 2022.

Artist Bio:
Jay Jermyn is a multi-disciplinary designer, artist and musician. His practice explores aspects of nature and human phenomena, modern technological environments and the notion of self. Jermyn’s experimental lighting and object works are an expression of his world, where energy, electronic circuitry, digital devices, instruments, light and materials synthesise in creative functional design compositions. Jermyn has exhibited his work at Melbourne design Week (2022), Soho Beach House, Miami Art Week (2018); Stolen Space Gallery, London; Metro Arts, Brisbane (2020); Brisbane Art and Design Festival; and Oigall Projects, Melbourne (2021). In 2021 he was the artist in residence at Home of the Arts, Gold Coast (HOTA), and launched design brand Objects For Thought (OFT) with co-designer and collaborator C. J. Anderson.
